Taking an active role in environmental protection
Because we are so close to nature’s treasures, treating our environment with respect is a matter close to our hearts. As part of the European e5 program, the municipality of Trebesing has officially committed to actively contributing to climate protection.
What does e5 mean?
This program certifies and recognizes municipalities that make a measurable contribution to a sustainable society through maximum energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy.
Trebesing was one of the first municipalities in Austria to be awarded 5 Suns—the highest distinction awarded in environmental protection!
Sustainability in Action
From private households to commercial businesses—we’re all pulling together. The following projects and standards are already shaping our daily lives:
- Energy from nature: Many businesses use bio-heating systems fueled by wood from local forests or generate electricity through their own photovoltaic systems
- Precious mountain water: Our water flows directly from the municipality’s own mountain springs into our pipes
- Regional cycles: We rely on food from local producers and prefer natural materials
- Clean mobility: The municipality promotes the rental of electric cars and e-mountain bikes; numerous businesses already offer electric charging stations
- Plastic reduction: As a model climate region, we are consistently working to reduce plastic use and prevent waste
